Distribution and Visibility in Open Education Hubs

To enhance the visibility and impact of educational resources published through TAMU Libraries OpenEd, in addition to the content being publicly accessible through the Platform, we actively submit all published works on the Platform to reputable open education publication databases, for example, OERTX, Open Textbook Library, and Pressbook’s Catalog. By publishing their work with TAMU Libraries OpenEd, authors consent to having their work openly accessible through the Platform and via open education databases for broad exposure to educators, students, and institutions across Texas and beyond. We are happy to work with authors if they have reservations about sharing content, for example, if they are creating a teacher’s edition of their book that they would like to control access to so that students cannot use it to complete assignments, or they would like a temporary piloting period for their content before the content could be shared publicly through the Platform or open education hubs.

Benefits of Inclusion

These hubs expand the reach of published works, making them accessible to a wider audience and increasing opportunities for adoption in classrooms and learning environments. Authors will be credited as the original creators in all submissions, ensuring proper attribution while enabling broader impact. Pressbooks collects data for page views and export file downloads that will be shared with authors and can be used in Tenure and Promotion documentation.

Authors interested in learning more about these distribution opportunities should contact the OpenEd team (OpenEdHelp@tamu.edu).
