License Management
The Shared Network is a collaborative publishing initiative that aggregates published works from all participating branches into a single platform, creating a centralized hub for open educational resources developed across the Texas A&M System. The TAMU Libraries OpenEd team co-manages the network for the System office alongside designated points of contact at TAMU branches (See TAMU Branch Institutions), ensuring equitable allocation of licenses and streamlined collaboration. While the TAMU Libraries OpenEd team oversees the overall process, each member institution may establish its own OpenEd procedures to identify and select projects for submission. Authors interested in developing open educational resources at member institutions should submit their proposals to their institution’s designated point of contact and/or follow their institution’s internal procedures if applicable. Once a project is selected and approved, the institution’s point of contact will provide the project details to TAMU Libraries OpenEd for license creation and inclusion in the Shared Network.
The management process of the institutional licenses is as follows:
- Each institution within the Shared Network is eligible for up to 4 licenses for content development.
- Licenses will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The remaining 5 licenses are held in a reserve pool to accommodate additional requests or special circumstances. Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, prioritizing: High-priority or time-sensitive projects and Demonstrated need and successful use of current licenses.
- If demand exceeds the available licenses, TAMU Libraries OpenEd will explore opportunities to expand access.
