Book Description

The D2S2 ENGL 1301 (Composition I) curriculum introduces students to academic writing contexts, shifting them from the personal to the academic as they learn how to use research to explore a topic before forming perspectives about that topic. ENGL 1301 introduces major concepts and skills needed for academic and industry writing situations, allowing the course to prepare students who may only need ENGL 1301 for their degree plans. The course sequence also directly prepares students for the D2S2 ENGL 1302 (Composition II) course, which has students develop academic arguments.

This ENGL 1301 course offers a comprehensive approach to college-level writing, emphasizing the foundational skills necessary for success in both academic and professional settings. Students will engage with a variety of texts and assignments, honing their ability to analyze, synthesize, and construct an informed stance. The curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking and effective communication, preparing students to navigate the demands of higher education and apply concepts in workplace environments.
