Chapter 8 Trigonometric Properties and Identities

In Chapter 7, we explored the six trigonometric functions, as well as some basic relationships between certain pairs of these functions. In Section 8.1 and 8.2 we are going to expand on the relationships between trigonometric functions by adding to the list of identities. The identities discussed are often used later in a person’s mathematical journey through calculus. In Section 8.3 we turn our attention to solving equations involving trigonometric functions. We finish the chapter by returning to trigonometry’s geometric roots and solving for the sides and angles of a non-right triangle.
