Text messages are becoming more common in workplace settings, but they are still considered informal. So, being certain what the organization considers appropriate for the job environment is up to you as the employee to identify. Oftentimes, the formality is unclear because the expectations are scaled as invisible customs that might not be clearly explained. Remember to keep texts appropriate and remember that once a text message is sent, it’s out in the world and cannot be taken back.
